Aeroflot Strategic Goals

  • Aeroflot Russian Airlines JSC (RTS: AFLT) is Russia’s national airline and is based in Moscow at the Sheremetyevo Airport.

  • Valery Okulov is the Chairman and CEO of Aeroflot.

  • The company employs more than 14,000 staff and operates 302 flights a day to 93 destinations in 47 countries with a fleet of 81 aircraft.

  • With its subsidiaries, it carried an estimated 9 million passengers during 2006, accounting for 23 per cent of the domestic market, making it Russia’s largest airline.

·         In 2006 net profits rose by around 36 per cent to US$258.1 million and revenues were up 18 per cent to US$3 billion.

  • Aeroflot is traded on the Moscow Stock Exchange and the Russian Government owns 51 per cent of Aeroflot. Legal entities and individuals own the remaining 49 per cent.

  • Aeroflot operates two subsidiaries – Aeroflot-Don (Rostov-on-Don) and  Aeroflot-Nord (Arkhangelsk), and is in the process of acquiring additional airlines in the Far East of Russia.

  • Aeroflot is listed among the 25 world’s leading airlines according to the financial indices.

  • In 2006 Aeroflot became the first Russian airline to join a global airline alliance when it became a member of SkyTeam. Aeroflot provides its customers with access to SkyTeam’s extensive network which now includes 791 destinations in 162 countries. Passengers also enjoy frequent flyer benefits, redeemable on any SkyTeam flight.

  • Until recently, Aeroflot has been Russia’s only certified operator on the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Registry.

  • Aeroflot has one of the youngest fleets in Europe, consisting of 81 aircraft, half of these are modern Airbus A320 and Boeing B767 airliners. The fleet is to significantly increase at the end of 2008 when the company receives the first Russian aircraft of the new generation Sukhoi SuperJet-100, as well as new Airbus A330s. It has also signed deals to acquire 22 Airbus A350 and 22 Boeing B787 Dreamliner jets.

  • Aeroflot meets international standards of safety (with its index of flight safety 99.965 per cent). After the completion of the IOSA audit Aeroflot was the first Russian carrier to be included in the IOSA operators Registry.

  • Aeroflot is building its own new modern terminal Sheremetyevo-3 which will open at the beginning of 2008, where all flights of the company and its SkyTeam partners will be transferred.

  • Established in 1923, Aeroflot is one of the oldest airline companies in the world. It was founded by the decree of the Soviet government. In 1993 Aeroflot was registered as open joint-stock company and preserved legal rights for the trademark “Aeroflot” which is one of the best known Russian brands in the world.
